In light of the COVID-19 pandemic and ongoing community quarantine of LGUs, Sentro ng Alternatibong Lingap Panlegal (SALIGAN) calls on employers in the private sector to prioritize the adoption of flexible working arrangements (FWAs) over other measures for social distancing. FWAs, especially work-from-home policies, are the least disruptive measures for both business and workers.

SALIGAN also calls on the government, especially the Department of Labor and Employment, to immediately start the implementation and delivery of assistance packages for displaced and affected workers. Financial support from the government, especially for workers forced to stop working without pay, is urgently needed. In times like this, we call for the authorities and employers to practice compassion and utmost consideration specially to our workers who have no source of income other than their work and livelihood.
